Cajun Baked Tilapia

Are you looking to change up your weekly dinner menu? Or maybe you are looking to change your eating habits. Well fish is an excellent way to change up the dinner menu and eat a little healthier. The best part about fish is that there are so many options available. White fish is a nice fish to cook with since it is so versatile.

There are several different types of white fish at the grocery store but one of my all time favorites is tilapia since it is inexpensive, easy to cook and holds flavor very well. Typically, I will buy a large bag of tilapia and keep it in the freezer.

The Cajun baked tilapia recipe is very tasty and goes good with vegetables, rice or even some mashed potatoes. You also need very little ingredients to make this dish, which makes it nice for nights when you do not want to do a lot of cooking or prep work. You will need to have the following:

Tilapia fillets
Panko crumbs (bread crumbs will work as well)
Butter or olive oil
Cajun spices


Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Add some melted butter or olive oil into a bowl. In another bowl, add your Panko crumbs and Cajun spices. Mix the spices and crumbs together. Take your tilapia filet and roll it in the butter and then in the crumb/spice mixture. Once you have the filets covered but them in a glass baking dish. You will want to cook the tilapia for a total of about ten minutes. You should flip the filets at the five-minute mark. After ten minutes run a knife through the filet to ensure that it is cooked. If the filet is cooked, the fish will flake when you run the knife through it. Serve with your favorite side dish and you will have a yummy fish dinner.

If you do not have Cajun spices at home you can substitute with any other spices you desire. I have used Cayenne pepper and fresh minced garlic.
